Marga Dread Transcends

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved musical brother Marga Dread aka Douglas Gregory. Marga was a key part of the Reality Shock Family from day one & will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Marga is perhaps most famous for his 1998 hit song Walk Like A Jamaican, which featured on ITV during the World Cup whenever Jamaica played. He was also a mentor to many artists including Deadly Hunta & the female dancehall trio FYA who went on to great success, signing to Def Jam & going platinum in Japan.
In the early 2000’s Marga teamed up with Reality Shock family (introduced by Deadly Hunta) & began working with Kris Kemist. Marga appeared on many Reality Shock releases, with songs like ‘Dem Wrong‘ on Reality Shock Vol 1 compilation & Reggae Party ft Mikey Murka. Marga’s 12″ vinyl EP ‘Last Chance Saloon‘ hit the streets in 2013, followed by his debut album ‘Gold Dust‘ in 2015.
More recently Marga appeared alongside Solo Banton & Dixie Peach on the 2020 combination song & music video ‘Keep Our Music Alive‘. In 2022 he came with the single Born A Winner. Marga also worked with many other labels & producers over the years including Jazzwad, Jamdown Records, Mungos Hifi / Scotch Bonnett Records, Control Tower Records to name a few. In recent years Marga moved closely with Solo Banton performing with Classic Wonder Veterans at many shows & festivals including Boomtown, Rototom, Shambala & many more.
Marga will never be forgotten & we will make sure his music lives on. Below is a playlist featuring some of his released works. We were also working on a new EP, which we plan to finish & release in his memory.
RIP the great Marga Dread – Long may your music live on
